Swimming Lessons
Youth
Swim for Life is a complete learn-to-swim program from Parent & Tot through to Leadership. Easy to program and easy to explain, Swim for Life leads seamlessly into the Society’s lifesaving training awards.
Adult
The Adult Swimmer Program is for beginners or swimmers who want to improve their skills. Within the Adult Swimmer curriculum, participants set their own goals to develop water confidence and recognizable strokes.
Skills Review
Skills Review with KD Contracting is a one-on-one session designed to help you meet your goals. While no certification is issued, this time dedicated to your needs will help you be successful!
First Aid
Standard First Aid
Standard First Aid is a WorkSafeBC Occupational Level 1 equivalent and can be used in the workplace and as lifeguards. This course includes comprehensive training covering all aspects of first aid, CPR and AED use.
Emergency First Aid
Emergency First Aid is a WorkSafeBC Occupational Level 1 equivalent and can be used in the workplace, and as assistant lifeguards. Using hands-on training and practice, this basic first aid course will give you confidence to respond effectively in an emergency.
CPR-C/AED
Be prepared to save a life! Knowing how to activate EMS, perform CPR and use an AED are critical lifesaving skills that everyone should have. Learn how to recognize and treat the early signs of heart attack.

Lifesaving + Lifeguarding
Bronze Medallion
Bronze Medallion teaches an understanding of the lifesaving principles embodied in the four components of water rescue education: judgment, knowledge, skill, and fitness.
Bronze Cross
The Lifesaving Society’s Bronze Cross begins the transition from lifesaving to lifeguarding and prepares candidates for responsibilities as Assistant Lifeguards.
National Lifeguard - Pool (NL)
The National Lifeguard Pool certification is designed to develop the fundamental values, judgment, knowledge, skills and fitness required by lifeguards.
Advanced Leadership
Swim Instructor
The Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor course trains candidates to the Competency Level 1 knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to teach the Society’s Swim for Life® and Canadian Swim Patrol programs.
Lifesaving Instructor (LSI)
Lifesaving Instructor/Examiners are trained to teach Junior Lifeguard Club, Swim to Survive, Lifesaving for Lay Rescuers, Lifesaving for Backyard Pool Owners, Safeguard, Canadian Swim Patrol (Rookie, Ranger, Star), Bronze Star, Bronze Medallion, and Bronze Cross (and many other courses).
First Aid Instructor
The First Aid Instructor (FAI), recognized as Occupational (OFA) Level 1 Instructor, trains instructors to apply teaching and evaluation philosophy to techniques and approaches required to teach first aid skills.
