The Lifesaving Society’s Bronze Cross begins the transition from lifesaving to lifeguarding and prepares candidates for responsibilities as Assistant Lifeguards. Candidates strengthen and expand their lifesaving skills and begin to apply the principles and techniques of active surveillance in aquatic facilities. Bronze Cross emphasizes the importance of teamwork and communication in preventing and responding to aquatic emergencies.
To be employed as an Assistant Lifeguard, an individual should be a minimum of 15 years of age and hold (at a minimum) a current Lifesaving Society Bronze Cross certification and a current Emergency First Aid certification.
Prerequisites: Bronze Medallion certification
Bronze Cross is a prerequisite for National Lifeguard and leadership certification programs. Bronze Cross award holders can be employed as an Assistant Lifeguard. Check our Bronze Cross page and consider enrolling in a Skills Review Session prior to registering.
